Hello makers and fashion lovers!
It's Kelly, returning with another round of Our Maker Life's newest blog addition: How to Wear It. Today we continue our journey into the world of fashion to explore where our handmade items fit in. Here at OML we celebrate the unique styles of all makers, and today we are letting the minimalist style of Christian, the maker behind Selling Warmth, wash over us.
Christian makes her handmade knitwear and home goods with a modern, classic twist to minimal style.
"I like mixing and matching bold colors with muted tones. My products are simple, yet unique, which allows the wearer to express their true self in whatever way they see fit."
Ready to see how she styles her Felicity Hat? Us too! Let's check it out.
"Almost every product can be worn in various ways and styles, making it easier for customers to mix and match through seasons. But the one that is the most versatile is the Felicity Knit hat. I made it with small ridges, giving it a textured look. I love it because you can wear it casually with a tee and denim. You can also pair it with a cute and sweet dress for a softer look. But what’s even better is that it can be worn in the fall and winter by matching it with a sweater, long coat, tights and knee-high boots."
"For even the coldest of cold days, style your Felicity Hat in your favorite color with a thick oversized sweater and some light comfy jeans. Want to dress up your casual look? Grab a pullover in a sultry winter shade and match it with your Felicity Hat, some dark wash denim, and a sleek pair of heels or leather boots."
"When the weather gets heated, pick a simple striped dress and spice it up with the Felicity Hat and some classic sneakers. Embark on new adventures with your Felicity Hat, adding life to the party wherever you are. Your hat makes breezy days worth while. Styling is simple. Set brim on the edge of your crown and behind the ears for an easy, slouchy look."
"The main goal is to provide buyers with product that is made ethically and highlights authenticity by showing their true personality. So we always keep in mind timelessness and versatility. We’re huge suckers for capsule wardrobing, and rally behind slow fashion. We believe you shouldn’t have to purchase more and more clothes to fit a particular style when you’ve got quality products that accentuate everything, and save money in the long run!"

Kelly, OML dream team
Kelly is the mind, body and soul behind @knitbrooks: handmade modern knitwear inspired by nature’s endless beauty. After completing a photojournalism program, Kelly used both knitting and crocheting as a way to relax after a long day working as a reporter/photographer. This hobby has since transformed into a way to combine her love of creating fashionable knitwear, with her passion for photography, a cozy lifestyle, and her awe and admiration of the untouched wilderness.
Bright and creative, Christian has always been destined to inspire others by developing things of her own. Born to a middle-class household in the suburbs of Kansas City, Christian is an only child who was raised to be independent and driven. Her career in sales began during her time as a Girl Scout, where she landed the position as top-seller four years in a row. Through various jobs as a sales representative and brand ambassador, Christian has developed the ability to hone in the skillset required to fuel her retail business. She began Selling Warmth during her early years as an undergraduate student in college. It started with a pushy request for a bright purple crocheted hat. Since then, Christian has created unique pieces to fuel her love for fashion and home decor. Selling Warmth features pieces of classic and modern knitwear for fashion and home. The company thrives on the values of seeing the spread of warmth by showing love, enthusiasm and kindness in all of its operations. Selling Warmth upholds this standard by donating proceeds from sales to organizations who facilitate orphan adoptions.
