Our story starts
with a maker’s dream
OML Founder, Jewell Washington, started the idea for Our Maker Life while riding the bus, knitting alone, on a frigid February day in Chicago. In that moment, she dreamed to connect with fellow knit and crochet designers and the chance to create and do business together.
She wanted a space where makers could talk about business, dream big, and show up authentically, whether new or experienced in fiber design, or even just a fiber hobbyist with a cool yarn stash, knowing community was key.
Jewell reached out to fellow makers to launch OML, and ever since she and the team have been standing on business and the belief that creativity for knitters and crocheters should be a meaningful online + IRL shared experience.
Whether we’re talking business or knit and crochet fun, we’re better when we hype and support each other.
OML became that dream turned community experience from one person to thousands of us. And our events keep growing because of you.
You don’t have to run your business alone. We spend lots of time knitting and crocheting solo, but you need to spend time with others too.
