Alison here! It has been such a long time since I've checked in on the OML blog. I have been thinking about how to write this blog post for some time now, and even though I am writing this now I am still overwhelmed with how to deliver this message. It feels like I will never be able to properly thank this beautiful community for the inspiration, true friends and connections that I have been able to form these past 2 years working with OML.
If you've been following my life on instagram for the past few months you know that lots has changed for me since my initial participation in OML. I've gutted my house down to its studs and rebuilt it with much care, trying to restore the charm of a century old home without making too many amateur design mistakes. I'm also expecting my first little person at the end of the summer while at the same time continuing to work on my fibre business. Needless to say that my passion and energy has been split amongst many worthwhile projects.
With all these changes I have been forced to take a step back and re-prioritize how I spend my time, trying to make space for all the good things to come.
It is with a heavy heart that I have taken a step back from OML this year and will continue to remain in 'OML retirement' going forward. Stepping away from working with this amazing group of super star makers who support such a diverse and passionate community is just plain tough. I believe so strongly in the community that we have all built together, and will remain this group's #1 fan until... forever.
I know that this year's OML event in Chicago is going to be the best one yet and I am so sad to miss out on all the fun. I will be watching (from afar in Canada) on Instagram with major f.o.m.o and I am already counting down the days until I can sign up for OML 2019. Until then please keep in touch! Instagram, Etsy, my website, email.... however you want to be my fibre (or life) friend I am always here with many emotions and lots of yarn.
To my OML team: I am so lucky to have you as fibre life friends in such a profound and amazing way. I know you guys will continue to lead our movement and organize the beauty and amazingness of Our Maker Life Inc. (I will be watching and cheering you on always!)
To the OML maker community: thank you for the opportunity to have inspired and encouraged nearly 60,000 of you since co-founding OML and throughout these amazing two years of incredible meet-up events, laughs, and forever memories - what a cozy honor.
