It's Kelly, back with this week's QOTW here at OML.
You know the moment. The cold weather is swiftly approaching, your list of knitwear orders is growing steadily, and before you know it there are three hats, five scarves, 11 pairs of mittens, and 27 cowls that need to be made by next Tuesday. There you sit, trying not to fall into the downward spiral of despair, wondering how the heck you're going to manage.
Let's talk about how you're going to stay on top of things, shall we?
Of course you're thankful. You are gushing with pride and excitement that people out there appreciate your hard work and quality handmade items. But with that feeling of appreciation comes your old friend stress, who sits there on its throne atop your daunting pile of tasks.
So, how do you manage to successfully get those orders where they need to be? What ways do you stay organized and on top of busy workloads, particularly when you're swimming in a sea of orders during peak season?
Personally I've come to accept that organization is not one of my strengths. Actually, I'm quite disorganized, easily overwhelmed, and often find myself prone to distractions (especially when I'm feeling stressed). Don't worry though, there are many ways to combat these feats. For me, making lists has always helped. A list may seem simple and small and insignificant to some, but having a daily checklist not only helps to keep me organized, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and relief when I can cross something off. Do I still have five other scarves to make right now? Sure. But I just put a big black sharpie line through one, and boy was it satisfying.
Here's what Josie of Peony Knits, Sarah of Yarn Lovin, Peggy of cdckdesign, and Sabina of Crochet Gallery have to say about tackling those oh busy workloads.

Kelly, OML dream team
Kelly is the mind, body and soul behind @knitbrooks: handmade modern knitwear inspired by nature’s endless beauty. After completing a photojournalism program, Kelly used both knitting and crocheting as a way to relax after a long day working as a reporter/photographer. This hobby has since transformed into a way to combine her love of creating fashionable knitwear, with her passion for photography, a cozy lifestyle, and her awe and admiration of the untouched wilderness.
